In this blog, I'm going to show you what are the exiting things to do in Penang. Forget about other ordinary tourist spot, follow me to see how can you enjoy, play & eat in Penang just like the LOCALI'll be featuring FOODsTHINGS to do, HERITAGE sites and OOTD! Scroll until the end as this might be one of the best guide you'll consider to follow 🙌
First, we will kick off the trip early in the morning at Penang Hill! If you are looking for a place to have a stunning perspective of Penang, this is the place you must go. I know it is difficult to wake up at 6AM but believe me, the weather and sunrise worth your morning time.

*Shhh,I only share this to you - this place is 5 degrees cooler than Georgetown!

The most convenient way to get up is by train. The journey usually takes about 5 to 10 mins only. 
Tips: Make sure you go early during PH or Weekend to skip long queues.

#1.Penang Hill ★★★★

Tadaaaa!!! The sunrise macam yes~ You will thanks the alarm clock for waking you up early in the morning when you manage to captured this beautiful moment!

#2.Air Itam Market ★★★

There’s no better way than to explore into local markets if you are keen to experience what the locals do daily.
Air Itam Market is a morning market that are well known among the Air Itam community. Grab your breakfast here / walk around to see how the local bargain, you might be the lucky one to discover some great local treasures.

"Ban Chang Kueh" (Chinese Pancake)

One of the hidden gem we found before going to our "real" stop. Traditional Chinese peanut pancake that filled w/ margarine, peanuts and sugar.

Our "real" stop! Spot the two elderly sisters in their special way of setting up their stall on the ground since 1946! YES 72 YEARS! 😮

Their specialty are the unique chili paste and the soup cook over a charcoal stove. The sisters are located near the Air Itam Methodist Church, or you may ask around for their location. *Isn't she cute? Ahma smiling at my camera when she caught me taking picture. 😆

#3.Kek Lok Si ★★★

Kek Lok Si – the largest Buddhist temple in the whole of Southeast Asia. W/ friends or family, you can easily spend few hours there exploring the temples. *Must-visit-spot Kuan Yin statue, the Goddess of Mercy.

Along the way, you’ll find ribbons hanging on a wishing tree. There are different ribbons relate to a specific wish and each cost only RM 1. You may write your name or wishes at the back of the ribbon and hang it on the wishing tree to pass along wishes and prayers.

#4.CHEW JETTY

  • UNESCO World Heritage Site 
  • One of Six Heritage Clan Jetties
  • One of the must-visit place in Georgetown. 
*Visit early morning or evening to catch the stunning view

#5.Street Art ★★★★☆

The Lithuanian artist - Ernest Zacharevic has visited Penang in the year of 2012 during George Town Festival and brighten up Georgetown by painted a number of insta-worthy murals. 
Street Art is all along the heritage sites, it requires some times to discover all of them, you may rent a motorcycle / bike nearby Armenian Street to explore the secrets of heritage sites. 
*Take it as an extra exercise to burn calories

#6.AiYu Jelly (爱玉冰)✔
After a short exercise session under 32 degree, FINALLY something refreshing as reward yayyy! This is something local will have as dessert especially when the sun is too "FRIENDLY" . 
Aiyu jelly served with sweet lychee and a touch of lemon slice - this is something you'll die for during the hot day!!
